The AMS Ambicor 2 piece inflatable implant is the only implant available in 2 piece category. It consists of a pair of fluid filled cylinders implanted in the penis and a small pump implanted in the scortum. Surgically it is easier to place this implant as it does not contain reservoir.
Squeezing and releasing the pump moves fluid to the cylinders, creating a rigid erection. To return to a flaccid state, bend the prosthesis down for 6-12 seconds and then release. The implant procedure is usually done on an outpatient basis. A small incision is made in the scrotum or above the pubic bone. This implant is mostly recommended to patient who have undergone previous abdominal surgery.
